Beautiful full color piece by famed Playboy cartoonist, John Ruge. We have been unable to verify whether this piece is published, and we estimate that it was created in the 1940s or 1950s. Watercolor with faint sketch lines in pencil, on 11” x 13.5” image on 13.5” x 16.5” board.
The artwork has minimal damage and minor discoloration from age. The watercolor paint is vibrant and not faded. There is no water damage, creases, or tears. The board the art is mounted on has significant discoloration due to acid and age. There is damage to the caption wording.
The caption reads: “[The] three kings arrive at the Bethlehem Hilton to find there is no Christ child [on the] register, and the innkeeper knows of no one by that name.”
Overall, very good condition, and a fantastic addition to any collection.
