James Stevenson

James Stevenson (1929-2017) spent nearly 50 years at The New Yorker gently skewering lawyers, businessmen and other members of the upper middle class.  He ranked among the magazine's most prolific artists, having drawn 1,988 published cartoons.  His work was not limited to cartoons, however.  He wrote and illustrated articles, including Talk of the Town pieces, and more than 100 children's books and novels, including an illustrated biography of fellow New Yorker cartoonist, Frank Modell.
