Ovid or Ovitz

With this caption, "So what if he doesn't know Ovid.  He knows Ovitz.", artist Marisa Acocella askes the age-old question:  knowledge of poetry or obscene wealth?  Marisa excels in finding humor (frequently from the female perspective) in relationships, fashion, and society, and her illustrations often show the dramatic flair of couture design sketches. 

This piece was published in the New Yorker on July 12, 1999.  Ink and ink wash on 10.5" x 12" Bristol paper.  The cartoon is taped to a heavy cardboard backing, but the tape does not interfere with the illustration.  The caption, in the artist's handwriting, appears on the cardboard below the taped image (see second photo).  New Yorker production sticker is affixed to the reverse side of the backing.  Excellent condition.
